The work of preparing our children to read is communal work. It takes ALL of us, working together, to make it happen for ALL our area’s children.
Working with our partners is how we are able to achieve tangible results in improving the reading skills of our area’s children. When our children are better able to read our communities grow stronger.

Project READ is an initiative of the Itasca Area Schools Collaborative Community Education.
Project READ’s mission is to get the whole community behind a common goal: ALL area children ready to read when they enter school.
Our communities will benefit in countless ways—both short-term and long-term when EVERYONE reads to children.
We recognize that when all our children are reading well by 3rd grade, they are more likely to be successful students. The goal of Project Read is to improve the early literacy skills of children from birth so they begin Kindergarten with the skills and experiences needed to become successful readers.
